Chris was born an entrepreneur.  At the age of 7 he began his first business, a car wash, recruiting and hiring his brother and neighborhood friends. As a teenager and continuing into college Chris established and grew a web design business servicing a variety of businesses.

Chris, a builder of companies had a passion to create something new that would meet a need where he lived. Motivated to go beyond websites, Chris obtained a real estate license while a full-time student at Augsburg College. In the summer he returned to the Fargo/Moorhead area, joined a real estate firm to learn the real estate market and to begin building a network of people in banking, the real estate community and title companies. Though he enjoyed working with people to find their “dream home”, he soon realized that his passion in life went beyond real estate sales and shifted his focus to the business and development side of real estate and construction.

At 22 years of age, Chris obtained his contractor’s license while selling Real Estate. Within a month, Thomsen Homes, LLC was born. From humble beginnings in a 1 room office, Chris was the sole employee and had responsibility for all areas of the business. In addition to building new construction homes, Chris also formed a company to purchase, rehab, and rent homes.

His vision, 14 years later, has resulted in the construction of approximately 2,000 single family homes committed to Affordable Luxury Housing within the Fargo/Moorhead and Grand Forks area, while being Nationally recognized on the Inc. 5000 list four of the past five years.

As Thomsen Homes has grown to approximately 45 talented team members, he has empowered others to be leaders in their own areas of expertise. The Thomsen Homes team is now led by Niels Thomsen as President, who has been instrumental in building the company with Chris over the past 10 years. Chris, Niels, and their team built the systems needed to see the company continue to grow. With a firm foundation, Chris has stepped back from the day-to-day functions of Thomsen Homes, remaining actively involved at a strategic level, and continuing his primary role within Thomsen Homes which is working with landowners and developers to provide sufficient buildable lots.

Stepping back from the day-to-day functions of Thomsen Homes has allowed Chris time to create the BluPeak Group that fosters an environment to continue to build a family of companies. As CEO of BluPeak, Chris has joined his wealth of knowledge with BluPeak Leadership, the broad network of people in the Fargo Moorhead and Grand Forks areas and his passion to build new entities; to enrich the communities of Fargo/Moorhead, Grand Forks and beyond. One of the most recent ventures over the past couple of years has been an expansion into the real estate market in Southern California.

When asked by a community member what leadership skills are needed to succeed, the answer by Chris Thomsen was straight forward – First, a broad knowledge of the community and opportunities that surround you. Second, surround yourself with a strong and empowered team. Third, articulate a compelling vision that steers a course into the future. Fourth, build a Strategic Development plan that is measurable. Just as important to company growth, Chris would share, is giving back to the communities they live and work in. These are the same leadership principles that are at the very foundation for BluPeak Group.

In a recent article Chris was described this way, “Chris is a person whom you can trust, one who treats everyone with respect and who strives to be better at what he does, so that he can empower others to be better at what they do.” The values of BluPeak Group are honed by the very leadership style Chris has committed his professional and personal life to: Integrity, Driven, Loyal, Family Oriented, Innovative.  Chris is excited to see the growth and path ahead for BluPeak Group and the entire family of companies.
